What is the register of beneficial owners?
The RBO is a central location for information on the beneficial ownership of companies. Article 30(1) of the European Unions fourth anti money laundering directive requires that all European Union states keep a current and up to date register of beneficial owners. The central register is kept in each member state.
What is a Beneficial Owner?
This is a person who owns a sufficient percentage of the company either directly or indirectly to control it through voting rights, Shares, Ownership interest in the entity, or by other means.
Who makes the Registration?
An officer of the company or employee can file the information on the register.
When does it need to be made?
If there is a change to an entities internal structure the filing needs to be made within 14 days.
