This means PPS Requirement:
From June 11th 2023, when filing certain forms, company directors will be required to provide their PPS numbers. The PPS number will be used for identity verification to ensure that the company director is alive and is a natural person. Included is the B1 Form for filing Annual Returns. Your Personal Public Service (PPS) number, which is sometimes called a PPSN, is a unique reference number that helps you access social welfare benefits, public services and information in Ireland. A PPS Number is always 7 numbers followed by either one or 2 letters. This will be a requirement if you wish to register a company in Ireland.
VIF Application:
If you do not have a PPSN there are two options. If you previously incorporated a company you may be registered for the Register of beneficial owners. This means you would have been provided with an RBO number. This number can be used on all CRO correspondence by means of identity verification. If you have neither a PPSN or an RBO number you will have to apply for a VIF number. It is a simple and easy process that we are able to register you for.
The Filing of the B1:
Your B1 First Annual return is done 6 months after your incorporation date. The B1 can not be submitted until the precise day of return. Therefore, we will contact you on the day with your signature form to be signed and returned to us. We can not proceed in the submission process without a PPS number or a VIN number. Filing the B1 is an obligation for every company and it is important to stay compliant.
The process of applying for a VIN?
Before your Annual Return is due we will contact you to confirm your PPS number. If you do not have one we will then provide you with a VIF Application Form. We will fill out the partial details for you. You must then sign it and have it notarized. Once you send it back to us we can then submit it to the CRO. Once approved we will then be issued with a VIN number for you. This will then allow us to go ahead and file your B1 annual Return. The number that is issued to you will be used for any future filings to the CRO. It is important to note that if you have a PPSN on file and apply for a VIN the CRO may penalize or fine your company. It is always recommended to allow an expert professional handle your filings.
